Importance of Vaastu

Vaastu creates equilibrium by balancing the different elements of nature and brings happiness and prosperity to our lives. Vaastu is rational (it is based on scientific study and not on assumptions) and permanent (it takes into consideration the directions, which are static).

Its guidelines are very simple and easy to follow. It can be applied to virtually any construction – houses, a room, temple, commercial complex or a factory. Vaastu extracts the positive energies of the five basic elements of nature – the solar energy of the sun, lunar energy of the moon, wind energy, magnetic effects of earth and heat energy of fire, balancing them to bring harmony to the life of a person. A harmonious life with nature is the theme of Vaastu Shastra.

When there is an imbalance among the elements, it can cause agitation, sorrow, failure or poor economic condition. Vaastu Shastra suggests ways in which you can live in agreement with the laws of nature, so that you remain healthy, be peaceful and work efficiently. So, it is advisable to consult a good Vaastu expert and follow his/her advice when constructing a new structure. The residential and commercial spaces constructed nowadays rely on the basics of the Five Elements in all aspects of planning, construction and interiors. The Paanchabhootas which are embedded in almost all materials is used to create harmony by changes in exterior and interior structural configurations.

Vaastu stresses the direction of a building and its design for energy conservation and bringing good health, wealth and prosperity to its occupants. According to Vaastu, a building’s direction is decided based on the rotational setting of the planets. If ignored, these buildings will fast decline to ruins.

Orientation in Vaastu Shastra refers to the eight directions set as the guiding force, which rules the life and destiny of the occupants who reside in the particular direction of the house. The meeting point of the two directions is of much significance as they hold the power to execute the powers of both. So Vaastu is mainly based on accumulating the strengths diversified by the forces, in co-existence with the Paanchabhootas.

Vaastu as a subject is an amalgamation of art, science, astrology and astronomy. The diversified field of Vaastu Shastra extends from choosing a plot of land to the planning and execution of design, to the construction of the building or structure and finally to the moving of the occupants or Grihapravesh to the new house.

Vaastu can be used at the micro and macro levels. Today developers and constructors adapt Vaastu in the development of housing colonies, hotels, and almost all the major residential and commercial projects. Even Towns and cities are planned according to Vaastu and temples, monuments, town,s and cities that are Vaastu compliant are more flourishing compared to those that are not.
